Maintenance, COCs & Generators

Planned and reactive maintenance for shopping centres and industrial sites, compliance testing and certificates, generator and standby connections, and new supplies.

What we do

Most of our work is for property owners who need one electrical contractor they can call for everything on a site: the monthly list of repairs, the urgent fault, the COC for a new tenant and the bigger upgrade. We keep a record of each site, so the next job starts with what we already know.

  • Planned maintenance for centres, offices and industrial sites
  • Reactive repairs and fault finding, including extraction fans and motors
  • Compliance testing and certificates of compliance (COCs)
  • Generator studies: sizing a set from the site's real load
  • Generator and standby connections, changeovers and feeder cables
  • New supplies and sub-mains, with cable sized on voltage drop
  • Site reports with photos and costed recommendations

Recent work

Boksburg retail centre

Generator study

Worked out the centre's real load and showed a 100 kVA set would run at 16 to 27% of its rating, deep in wet-stacking territory. We recommended a 40 to 60 kVA set instead.

Boksburg retail centre

Standby supply to 13 stores

Designed a metered standby supply from the generator to 13 store circuits, including a 316 m feeder sized on voltage drop rather than on the breaker.

Krugersdorp shopping centre

Completed-works list

Thirteen maintenance items from the centre's list, done and quoted back in three batches to match their order process.

Benoni shopping centre

Extraction fan repairs

Two failed extraction fans removed for repair and a motor replacement, then refitted.

Frequently asked questions

Do you do maintenance contracts?

Yes. We look after several shopping centres on an ongoing basis, from monthly repair lists to urgent faults, with one point of contact.

Can you issue a COC for an existing installation?

Yes. We inspect and test the installation, fix what does not comply, and issue the certificate once it passes.

How do you size a generator?

From the site's actual load, not the size of the main breaker. An oversized set costs more to buy and run, and suffers from wet-stacking at low load.

What are your working hours?

Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 17:00. Planned shutdowns are scheduled outside trading hours where the site needs it.

Need an electrician on site?

Call 079 432 5896 or 066 425 5289, or email admin@ironleaf.co.za. Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 17:00.
